I am not a life-long, expert swimmer. However, about a year ago, I decided to take swimming more seriously, and bought my first "jammer" style swimsuit, also by speedo. I replaced that suit with this one last month.
This suit definately seems more "robust" - the material the suit is made of seems tougher and more substantial. It's also less stretchy, and I think that's what is causing problems for people used to stretchier suits. I would say this suit is less forgiving? My previous suit was a 36 (as was this one), and this one felt snugger. But what I think was really happening was that it just didn't stretch as much.
What does this all mean? I really like this suit, and I have a feeling it's going to last a lot longer than my previous Speedo jammers, which is, I think, the point of this particular model. On the other hand, it's definately less stretchy, especially through the waist and leg openings, which may or may not create problems. My legs are pretty chunky (high school and college rowing), but I was able to fit in the same size that I wear for everyting else.
